How do you stay consistent when investing gets boring?

Three attempts isn't much to go on, but I seem to follow through when I keep the setup simple. If prep takes less than two minutes, I'm much more likely to keep doing it.

That is the part people skip

I'd think about cash flow, risk and flexibility rather than the perfect answer. If two options look equal, I'd favor the one that's easier to reverse.

My starting points: keep a month of expenses visible in a checking buffer, automate savings on payday, and avoid a plan that only works when life is perfect.

You'll learn more from a simple version repeated three times than from a perfect plan you never start. Come back with what happened—the details will make the next answer better.

Run the numbers for a normal month and a bad month. If the plan only works in a normal month, it's probably too fragile.

The simple version is underrated. So is keeping your options open.
