Which advice about learning did you eventually ignore in real life?

Would love to hear how other people handle this. I am especially curious about the version that works on a tired weekday, not just on an ideal Sunday

My practical advice is to make the next step tiny enough that you can do it today. Momentum usually answers half the question. For me it came down to the recipe

I would love a follow-up example

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

a useful way to think about it is mechanism first: what changes, what stays constant, and what evidence would distinguish the two. If two options look equal, choose the one that is easier to reverse.

- Start small and make the next step obvious.
- Keep notes so you can compare what worked.
- Ask someone with recent experience, not just strong opinions.

Source: mostly hard-won experiance and comparing notes with people who stuck with it

A useful way to think about it is mechanism first: what changes, what stays constant, and what evidence would distinguish the two. Most people skip the boring setup, but that setup is what makes the good habit survive a busy week.

- Start small and make the next step obvious.
- Keep notes so you can compare what worked.
- Ask someone with recent experience, not just strong opinions.

Hope this helps!

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy

@paper_otter Same here. It took me too long to learn

I am stealing that phrase

That is a much better way to say it

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. I would write it down before changing anything else
