Make the next step small enough that you can do it today.

yep, the boring details matter

I was going to disagree, but the point about boring details makes sense.

Trying to optimize before you have feedback is a trap. I'd start small and keep notes on what actually works.

What helped you realize you were optimizing too early?

My practical advice is to make the next step tiny enough that you can do it today. Momentum usually answers half the question. I keep a note about mobility for exactly this reason

Start small and make the next step obvious. The boring setup is what helps a habit survive a busy week. Keep notes and ask someone with recent experience, then adjust from what happens.

I had the same reaction to trying a small version first.

@omarnotes57 Short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes

I would ask what outcome you want in two weeks, not in some ideal future. That makes the choice much clearer. It sounds small, but the practice run matters

This reminds me of something a friend in Istanbul mentioned.

that is fair, but I still worry about maintenance

I'm curious whether the habit still feels manageable next month.

I'd love to hear how it's going after three weeks.

The practice run matters. I needed that reminder today.

I'd rather judge it when I'm tired in winter than on a perfect day.

I'd ask someone with more experience. I'm also curious how it feels after a month.

The middle path is probly best: try it cheaply, keep notes and decide after you have real evidence. I noticed teh same thing in Lagos

Same here. It took me too long to learn

I used to overcomplicate this constantly. A realistic short-term goal helps me.

I'd want to ask one more question before choosing what to try.

Amazing how much difference one small change can make. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan
