My small experiment with learning from explainers

Keeping the first step visible and removing one decision helped me follow through. I am still figuring out what works, but simple and repeatable has been better than a perfect plan.

This made me smile more then expected. The 9-minute rule is underrated

my version of this was messier, but teh conclusion was similar. This is more useful on a tired Monday morning than on a perfect day. I appreciate when people separate evidence from speculation

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. That is the kind of detail beginners miss

My first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing. The scale of it still melts my brain a little

This. Exactly this

anecdote beats theory here

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it. Honestly, teh simplest version wins for me

I agree with the goal and disagree with the method. The busy month version is even more interesting

This is useful for some cases, but terrible advice if the stakes are high. I am curious whether explainers still feels good next month

I wonder how much of this depends on timing. The low-effort version is probably the keeper

my wallet felt that

I am skeptical. The idea sounds good, but the maintenance cost is real. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability

You explained teh tradeoff realy clearly. The 9-minute rule is underrated

I would not call it wrong, just incomplete. My only addition is to make the first step visible

I wish more posts had this much context. My friend tried it in Jakarta and had the opposite result

Aarav Sharma · 4 likes

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot

This is the gentle version of my rant

Finn Brown · 4 likes

that is fair, but I still worry about maintenance

There is probably a middle ground here. I used to overcomplicate this constantly

I like this more then the top-level advice

could be regional too

There is probly a middle ground here. This is more useful on a tired busy month than on a perfect day. The scale of it still melts my brain a little

Really good advice, and it feels doable. I noticed the same thing in Seoul

Linh Tran · 2 likes

Interesting. I would like to see how it changes after 4 months. Honestly, teh simplest version wins for me

This is the kind of disagreement I like

Glad you shared it; small wins count. This pairs weirdly well with falafel
