Notes from a very normal rainy evening with AI Lab

I tried this in São Paulo with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

My current rule is simple: if it takes less than 3 minutes to prepare, I am much more likely to keep doing it.

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions

Glad you shared it; small wins count. My only addition is to make the first step visible. A small test case would make this easier to trust

This is adorable and oddly motivating. It sounds small, but the first draft matters

helpful correction

Lotte Jansen · 4 likes

@paperreads Respectfully, I see it the other way

I get the appeal, though I would be careful calling it the best option. I would write it down before changing anything else

I like the idea, but the setup probly matters a lot. I used to overcomplicate this constantly

Aarav Sharma · 3 likes

That sounds great until you add children/pets/deadlines

Cedar Runner · 10 likes

That is a good question for people with more experience then me. My friend tried it in Melbourne and had the opposite result

Diego Quispe · 4 likes

Totally agree, especially for beginners

Isha Menon · 10 likes

the very angle is what sold me. I would love to see a follow-up after 3 weeks

Tiny Noodle · 8 likes

That is a surprisingly elegant way to frame it

yep, the boring details matter

I think the bad version of this advice causes a lot of frustration. I used to overcomplicate this constantly

This made me smile more than expected. A little friction removed goes a long way. This is exactly the kind of tradeoff teams argue about for weeks

Jack Taylor · 7 likes

this reminds me of something a friend in Mexico City mentioned. The social part surprised me too

Theo Bennett · 6 likes

glad you shared it; small wins count. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near a family dinner

Sleepy Marauder · 5 likes

I am mostly here for the follow-up. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing

Cozy Marauder · 62 likes

@sleepyrides Could be regional too

Tomás Gómez · 1 likes

Same here. It took me too long to learn

Avery Johnson · 5 likes

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. This would have saved me alot of trial and error

Tanvir Rahman · 4 likes

That is a good boundary

Imogen Clarke · 5 likes

Fair point, but I had the opposite experience. My only addition is to make the first step visible

The context helps. Without it I would have assumed the opposite. I am curious whether machinelearning still feels good next month

The vibe here is immaculate. This is more useful on a tired weekend then on a perfect day. Good reminder that tools should serve people, not the reverse

Jonas Schneider · 12 likes

that is fair, but I still worry about maintenance

That made the concept click

Respectfully, I see it the other way

love the tiny experiment energy. The practical constraint is probably the real story

did anyone else read this and immediately make a tiny checklist? The low-effort version is probably the keeper

Hugo Martin · 1 likes

I am stealing that phrase

Lucas Williams · 4 likes

I had the same reaction to phrase

Mango River · 2 likes

that is fair, but I still worry about maintenance

Isha Menon · 2 likes

good clarification — I read it differently at first

Ren Suzuki · 2 likes

This is genuinely helpful, thanks for writing it out. The a tiny balcony detail changes the whole answer

This reminds me of something a friend in Istanbul mentioned. I would write it down before changing anything else

Cedar Otter · 1 likes

this is adorable and oddly motivating. That is where the boring checklist helps. The boring solution is probably the reliable one here

Emir Kaya · 1 likes

I appreciate the honest middle stage, not just the polished ending. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the kitchen

Aarav Sharma · 1 likes

What happened after the first week? I am curious whether very stayed easy. This pairs weirdly well with pasta

Rafael Almeida · 1 likes

Can you share what you tried before this? The low-effort version is probably the keeper

Honestly, great taste. A small test case would make this easier to trust

Tola Ibrahim · 12 likes

Thanks for making it less intimidating

that last line is excellent. My friend tried it in Melbourne and had the opposite result

I wish more posts had this much context. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing

Gentle Comet · 0 likes

My version of this was messier, but the conclusion was similar. The quiet constraint is probably the real story
