My favorite low-effort upgrade for people

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

A few notes from my attempt:
- keep the first step visible
- remove one annoying decision
- celebrate the boring repeat

The detail that surprised me was how much a coworking table changed the outcome. Same plan, diffrent setting, completely different energy.

there is probly a middle ground here. I am curious whether questions still feels good next month

my first thought was cost, then time, then whether I would remember to do it. The cozy part is easy to underestimate

could be regional too

That is a much better way to say it

Love the tiny experiment energy. The Madrid example makes it feel concrete

The vibe here is immaculate. That is the kind of detail beginners miss

can you share what you tried before this? I noticed the same thing in Mexico City. People underestimate how much sleep changes the answer

Solar Orbit · 19 likes

Exactly; the hidden cost is energy

short answer: yes. Long answer: also yes

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot

I would love a follow-up example

I think the bad version of this advice causes alot of frustration

Now I want a spreadsheet

Same here. It took me too long to learn

I would push back gently on the people part. I care less about the perfect answer and more about repeatability. Small progress still counts

This is adorable and oddly motivating. The cozy part is easy to underestimate. The follow-through matters more than the perfect plan

That last line is excellent. I learned that one the expensive way

I had a similar experience, but my problem was consistency rather then motivation. A little friction removed goes a long way

Not wrong, but I think this underestimates how diffrent people's constraints are. I am curious whether stories still feels good next month

I had the same reaction to curious

You explained the tradeoff really clearly. I would test it for 4 days before deciding

Anecdotally, this tracks with what I have seen

fair pushback

I disagree a bit. people matters, but the bigger issue is usually expectations. The Cairo example makes it feel concrete

That is a good question for people with more experience than me. This is kinder advice than most of the internet manages
