Unpopular Opinions · by Aarav Sharma · 2026-09-19

What is your default move when debate gets messy for absolute beginners

I had a disappointing first try, a surprisingly good second try, and then a third attempt that taught me humility. So, naturally, I now have opinions.

Context: I am not an expert, just someone trying to make Unpopular Opinions feel less intimidating. I wrote down what worked, what felt awkward, and what I would do differently next time.

I tried this in Dublin with a friend and we both noticed the same thing: the social part mattered more than the perfect plan.

The detail that surprised me was how much a neighborhood park changed the outcome. Same plan, different setting, completely different energy

Only with help got my vote. The other choices are good, but this one fits my week. I noticed the same thing in Toronto

I picked Not for me, mostly because it feels easiest to live with. The the kitchen detail changes the whole answer

Beautifully put. I needed that reminder today. My friend tried it in Mumbai and had the opposite result

This sounds sensible, though I would need to test it myself

I picked Maybe later mostly because it feels easiest to live with. This is where I would ask one more question before choosing

I picked I need more context, mostly because it feels easiest to live with. I would love to see a follow-up after 4 weeks

Surprised more people aren't choosing Only with help. It seems like the practical answer. It reminds me of a very specific conversation near the train station

adding this to my notes

Small caveat: context changes the answer a lot
