[DFB-Pokal Matchday] DFB-Pokal 2nd Round: 1. FC Köln vs Union Berlin – The first of two battles 🏆🔴⚪
Cup nights are here, and tonight we are heading to the RheinEnergieSTADION to face 1. FC Köln at 20:45. This is actually part one of a massive double-header against the Billy Goats, as we are scheduled to play them again in the Bundesliga this Sunday back home at the Alte Försterei.
**Form & Tactical Outlook:**
We are coming off a chaotic, hard-fought 1-1 draw in Augsburg where Janik Haberer's scrappy goal earned us a gritty point with 10 men. Unfortunately, Felix Uduokhai’s early red card in that match means he is suspended for tonight’s cup clash, which forces a mandatory shift in our backline.
On the other side, Köln extended their unbeaten home run this past weekend with a 0-0 draw against Schalke. They currently sit 12th in the Bundesliga, while we are battling down in 17th. They are strong on their own turf, but a straight knockout cup tie under the lights is a different beast entirely. A deep Pokal run could be exactly what this squad needs to inject some confidence and momentum into our league campaign.
Who do you think steps up in defense to cover for Uduokhai, and what is your score prediction for tonight? Win or go home --> Eisern Union!
