My boyfriend and I have very different ideas about saving money. How do couples handle this?

Together 2 years, moving in soon. I save 25% of income and track every euro, he's more 'you only live once' and spends on trips and gadgets. Neither of us is wrong exactly, but it's causing tension. How did you and your partner find middle ground?

It's worth asking where the attitudes come from. often family history around money

yes, my partner grew up with scarcity and it explained a lot

have the talk BEFORE moving in. after the lease is signed it's harder

he spends on trips and you save. honestly you might balance each other out nicely

a saver and a spender together can work if they respect each other

agree on shared goals first (apartment, travel, emergency fund), then the details are easier

yours, mine, ours system. shared account for bills, each keeps their own for fun money

proportional to income is fairer if incomes differ a lot
