Cat parents: how did you get your cat to stop waking you at 5am?

My 2 year old tabby has decided 5:00am is breakfast time and she will knock things off the nightstand until I get up. I've tried ignoring her but she escalates. What actually worked for you?

play hard with her right before bed then feed a small meal. hunt, eat, sleep cycle
