DeFi lending protocols are quietly recovering TVL without any of the hype cycle marketing this time

Noticed total value locked across a few of the major lending protocols creeping back up over the last couple months, but without the usual wave of influencer threads and yield-farming mania that accompanied past TVL growth. Feels more organic this time, like actual users managing actual positions rather than mercenary capital chasing the next token incentive. Could be wrong though, curious what others are seeing on-chain.

the absence of crazy APY farming incentives this time is actually a good sign imo, means the growth isnt just temporary liquidity mining capital that leaves the second incentives dry up

been using these protocols quietly the whole bear market for actual borrowing against my holdings, nice to see the ecosystem not totally dead even if it was never loud about it

on chain data can be deceiving tho, some of that TVL growth is just price appreciation of locked assets not new deposits, worth separating the two

good point, should check deposit counts not just dollar TVL to get the real picture here

organic growth without hype is honestly the healthiest kind, hype cycles always end the same way with a crash and burned newcomers

still way too much smart contract risk for me to put serious money in personally, one exploit and its gone, no fdic here

audited protocols with a long track record are a totally different risk profile than some random new fork chasing yield though, not all defi is equal risk

this is the slow boring maturation phase every industry goes through after the mania dies down, happened with the early internet too honestly

i like seeing less hype personally, makes it easier to actually evaluate the tech on its merits instead of wading through marketing noise
