E-ink tablets are quietly having a renaissance, anyone actually switched their workflow over?

theverge.com

Picked up an e-ink tablet a few months ago mainly for reading PDFs and taking notes, and ended up using it way more than expected for distraction free writing too. Battery lasts almost 2 weeks and there's something genuinely calming about the lack of notifications/color. Curious what others' real world experience has been, good and bad.

the refresh rate lag is the one thing that still bugs me, fine for reading/notes but writing fast cursive can feel laggy

switched my entire PDF annotation workflow for grad school over to one of these and never looked back, saved my eyes honestly

color eink is finally getting decent too, tried a newer model recently and the washed out color thing is way less bad than 2 years ago

as someone with migraines, the lack of backlight flicker alone has been genuinely life changing for long reading sessions

honestly for just reading a basic ereader is way cheaper and does 90% of the job, the note taking premium is the real cost driver

the distraction free aspect is underrated, no app switching rabbit hole like on an ipad, just one task at a time
