New foldable phone reviews are in — durability finally seems like a solved problem

theverge.com

Been skeptical of foldables since the first generation crease and hinge failures but the latest review round shows genuinely impressive durability testing results, tens of thousands of folds with minimal wear. Feels like the category might finally be ready for mainstream adoption instead of early adopter territory.

the crease is still visible even if the hinge is durable now, thats a software/screen tech problem not a mechanical one, different fix needed

price is still the real barrier for mainstream adoption more than durability at this point imo

resale value on these has always been rough too, worth factoring in if durability concerns were your main hesitation before

the form factor genuinely is nice for reading/multitasking once you get past the initial price shock, ive been happy with mine

curious how battery life holds up with the bigger unfolded screen, thats usually the tradeoff reviews gloss over

every generation says 'this is the one thats finally durable' and then 2 years later theres a recall, ill believe it when i see 3+ years of real world data
