Mechanical keyboards with per-key hot swappable switches have ruined regular keyboards for me forever

Got into the hobby 6 months ago thinking id just get one nice board and be done. Now I own 4 keyboards, a switch tester, and ive started lubing switches by hand on weekends. Send help, or more realistically, send switch recommendations.

the hobby is a slippery slope and everyone warns you and nobody listens including past me, welcome to the club

boba u4s if you want something smooth out of the box without lubing, great budget switch for the sound profile

lubing switches by hand is genuinely meditative once you get a rhythm down, dont let anyone tell you its not worth the time

try a different plate material next, aluminum vs polycarbonate changes the sound signature way more than people expect going into it

4 keyboards in 6 months is actually restrained compared to some people in this hobby lol, youre doing fine

get a sound dampening foam kit before you buy keyboard number 5, cheap upgrade that changes everything about the typing feel

the switch tester was a smart move, saves you from buying a whole set of switches you end up not liking
