If AI coding agents keep getting better, what's actually left for junior engineers to learn first?
with tools like Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor, and Windsurf handling more and more of the mechanical implementation work, I'm genuinely unsure what the right "first skills" curriculum looks like for someone starting out today. Is it still worth grinding LeetCode-style fundamentals, or should the priority shift almost entirely to systems thinking, reading/reviewing code critically, and understanding tradeoffs well enough to direct an agent effectively? Curious how people who manage junior engineers are actualy adjusting onboarding right now, not just in theory
